Entanglement and disorder: a mean field approach
The entanglement of symmetric mean-field ground states is studied for system of finite size. While a bare mean-field approximation amounts to consider factorized states, the symmetrization allows one to restore an amount of entanglement, which survive if finite systems are considered. For the isotropic XY model in the presence of a random transverse field, we calculated the one-site entanglemen...
متن کاملMagnetic energy dissipation and mean magnetic field generation in planar convection-driven dynamos.
A numerical study of dynamos in rotating convecting plane layers is presented which focuses on magnetic energies and dissipation rates and the generation of mean fields (where the mean is taken over horizontal planes). The scaling of the magnetic energy with the flux Rayleigh number is different from the scaling proposed in spherical shells, whereas the same dependence of the magnetic dissipati...
متن کاملFree energy in the generalized Sherrington-Kirkpatrick mean field model
In [10] Michel Talagrand gave a rigorous proof of the Parisi formula in the SherringtonKirkpatrick model. In this paper we build upon the methodology developed in [10] and extend Talagrand’s result to a more general class of mean field models with spins distributed according to an arbitrary probability measure on the bounded subset of the real line and with external field term given by an arbit...
متن کاملViscoelastic depinning of driven systems: mean-field plastic scallops
We have investigated the mean-field dynamics of an overdamped viscoelastic medium driven through quenched disorder. The model allows for the coexistence of pinned and sliding regions and can exhibit continuous elastic depinning or first-order hysteretic depinning. Numerical simulations indicate mean-field instabilities that correspond to macroscopic stick-slip events and lead to premature switc...
متن کاملMean Field Theory of Dynamical Systems Driven by External Signals
Dynamical systems driven by strong external signals are ubiquitous in nature and engineering. Here we study "echo state networks", networks of a large number of randomly connected nodes, which represent a simple model of a neural network, and have important applications in machine learning. We develop a mean field theory of echo state networks. The dynamics of the network is captured by the evo...
